Photo Booth Hire for Graduations and End-of-Year Parties in Marbella

The end of the school year on the Costa del Sol has its own rhythm. Exams finish, the evenings get warm, and suddenly every family has a graduation dinner, a leavers’ party or a fin de curso celebration on the calendar. Whether it is a university graduation in Málaga, a sixth-form dinner at a Marbella hotel or a primary school party in a garden in Mijas, the pattern is the same: a group of people who have spent years together are about to scatter, and everyone wants a picture to keep.

That is exactly the job a photo booth does well. It is not just entertainment to fill a gap in the programme. It is a small machine for producing keepsakes: every guest leaves with a printed photo in their hand that evening, and the whole group leaves with a digital gallery. For a graduation, where the whole point is marking a milestone, that matters more than it does at an ordinary party.

Why a photo booth suits a graduation better than a hired photographer

A photographer and a photo booth are not competitors, and plenty of graduations have both. But they do different things. A photographer documents the evening from the outside: the speeches, the cap toss, the toast. A photo booth lets the guests take over. Nobody has to wait to be posed, nobody has to be asked politely to smile. Four friends pile in, grab the props, pull a face, and ten seconds later they are holding the print.

For a class or a year group this changes the dynamic. Teenagers who would never line up for a formal portrait will queue happily for a booth, and they will go back three or four times with different combinations of friends. By the end of the night you have a near-complete set of everyone in the room photographed with everyone else, which is precisely the thing people look for in that album ten years later.

It also solves the awkward middle of the evening. There is usually a stretch after dinner and before the dancing where the programme sags. A booth absorbs it.

What a graduation photo booth costs

Our pricing starts from 400 € for three hours, and that is the same price anywhere in the province of Málaga. A graduation dinner at a hotel in Marbella and a fin de curso party at a school in Antequera are quoted identically. There is no travel surcharge inside the province, which is worth knowing if your venue is inland rather than on the coast.

Three hours is the right length for most graduations. It covers the arrival drinks, the gap after dinner and the first part of the dancing. If your evening runs long, extra hours can be added. The one optional extra we are asked about most for graduations is the live backdrop at 150 €, which gives you a clean, consistent background for every print instead of whatever happens to be behind the booth.

For a fuller breakdown of what drives the final figure across the region, we wrote a separate guide to photo booth hire costs on the Costa del Sol.

What is included in the rental

Every booking, graduation or otherwise, includes the same core package:

  • The photo booth itself, set up and tested before guests arrive
  • Unlimited photos for the whole hired period
  • Unlimited instant prints, so every person in a group shot can take one home
  • A box of props
  • A custom print design with the school or university name, the year and the names if you want them
  • An attendant on site for the full session
  • A digital gallery of every shot, delivered after the event

The attendant matters more at a graduation than at most events. With a large year group you get a queue, and someone needs to keep it moving, reload the printer and make sure the shy ones get their turn too.

How much space you need

Plan for a clear area of about 3 × 3 metres. The equipment stands up to 1.8 metres tall and the backdrop is 2.5 × 2.5 metres, so the footprint is modest, but you do want room for a group of six to stand in front of it without backing into a table.

Setup takes around an hour. For a graduation that usually means we arrive while the room is still being laid out, which is ideal: by the time the first guests walk in, everything is tested and the queue can start immediately.

We need a standard power socket within reach and, ideally, a spot that is not in the direct path between the bar and the dance floor. Indoors is simplest. Outdoors is fine too, under cover, which is how most June and July parties on the coast end up working.

Where we travel

We cover the whole province of Málaga at the same price: Marbella, Málaga city, Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Mijas and the inland towns. Graduation season is concentrated in a few weeks of June and July, so dates go quickly in that window. If your venue is in the city itself, our guide to photo booth hire in Málaga capital covers the practicalities of loading in at city-centre venues.

Venues that work well for graduations

Hotel function rooms are the most common choice for university and secondary school dinners, and they are the easiest logistically: a loading door, a lift, reliable power. School halls and gardens work well for younger year groups, and beach clubs and chiringuitos suit the informal leavers’ parties that happen after the formal dinner.

The only venue type that needs a conversation in advance is a terrace with no cover, because a summer evening on the coast is usually dry but the equipment still needs shade from direct afternoon sun. If you are weighing up venue types more broadly, our comparison of fincas and hotels applies to graduation dinners almost as directly as it does to weddings.

Print design: making it look like a graduation, not a generic party

The print layout is customised for every booking, and for a graduation it is worth using that properly. The details that work best are the simple ones: the name of the school, college or university, the year, and a short line like Promoción 2027 or Class of 2027. School colours translate well into a print border. A crest or logo can be included if you have the file.

Keep the text short. A print is a small object and the photo should dominate it. Two lines of text and a border is almost always better than four lines and a pattern.

Fitting the booth into the evening

A three-hour session at a graduation dinner usually works best starting with the arrival drinks rather than at the end of the night. Guests are fresh, outfits are intact, and the queue builds naturally while people are standing around anyway. The second peak comes right after the speeches and the cap toss, when everyone is already in a photographing mood.

If you are planning a longer evening with a late finish, consider starting the booth slightly later so the session still has life in it when the dancing begins. The attendant will keep the booth running through both peaks either way.

Photo booth, 360 booth or magic mirror?

All three work at a graduation, and they produce different things. The classic booth with prints is the safest choice for a large year group, because the print is the souvenir and everybody gets one. A 360 booth produces short videos that travel well on social media but does not print, and it needs more floor space and a queue manager because each turn takes longer. A magic mirror sits in between and tends to suit smaller, more formal dinners.

For a year group of fifty or more, the printing booth almost always gives the best ratio of people served to time. We compared the three formats in detail in our guide to 360 booths, magic mirrors and photo booths.

How to book

Graduation season is short and concentrated, so the practical advice is to fix the date as soon as the school or university confirms it. June and July weekends fill first. Call or message +34 610 816 283, write to info@picmeevents.es, or use the form on our contact page, and tell us the date, the venue and roughly how many guests. We will come back with a quote and confirm availability.

We have been running booths on the Costa del Sol for more than five years and hold a 5.0 rating on Google. If you want to see how the same setup works at other kinds of celebration, our pages on photo booth rental in Marbella and on birthdays and private parties cover the equivalent details.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a photo booth for a graduation cost?
From 400 € for three hours, the same price across the province of Málaga. The live backdrop is an optional 150 €.

How many people can use the booth in three hours?
With an attendant keeping the queue moving, a group of a hundred guests is comfortable in three hours, because most shots are taken in groups of three to six rather than individually.

Do all the guests get a printed photo?
Yes. Prints are unlimited, so if six friends pose together, six copies can be printed.

Can the prints carry our school or university name?
Yes. The print design is customised for every booking and can include the institution name, the year and a crest or logo if you send us the file.

How much space and how much setup time do you need?
About 3 × 3 metres of clear floor, a standard power socket, and roughly an hour to set up and test before guests arrive. The equipment stands up to 1.8 metres and the backdrop is 2.5 × 2.5 metres.

Do you travel outside Marbella?
Yes, across the whole province of Málaga at the same price, including Málaga city, Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Mijas and the inland towns.

How far in advance should we book a graduation?
As early as you can. Graduation season is squeezed into a few weeks of June and July, and those weekends are the first to go.
