Málaga has become one of the busiest event cities on the Spanish coast. Weddings that once headed straight out to the countryside now stay in town, companies hold their end-of-year dinners a few streets from the cathedral, and birthdays happen on rooftop terraces with the port lights below. What all of those evenings have in common is a stretch in the middle where dinner is finished, the speeches are over and the dancing has not quite started. That is the gap a photo booth fills.
Pic Me Spain has been running photo booths on the Costa del Sol for more than five years, and Málaga capital is one of the places we drive to most often. This guide covers what photo booth hire in Málaga costs, what arrives with us, how much room you need to set aside, and what actually happens across an event from setup to the last print.
City venues in Málaga tend to be smaller than the big rural fincas further west. A patio in the Soho district, a restaurant terrace near Muelle Uno, a function room in a hotel on the Alameda — these are rooms where guests are already close together, and that is exactly where a photo booth earns its place. People do not have to be walked across a garden to find it. They see it, they drift over between courses, and the queue becomes part of the party rather than a separate activity.
The second reason is practical. Many central venues have a strict end time because of neighbours and noise rules, so the evening is compressed. A booth gives you an attraction that works from the moment it is switched on and needs no warm-up, no schedule slot and no announcement. It also quietly solves the group-photo problem: instead of one photographer trying to round up forty people, guests photograph themselves in whatever combinations they like, and you end up with pictures of pairings nobody would have thought to arrange.
Third, prints travel. Guests who came in from Madrid or London for a weekend in Málaga leave with something physical in their pocket, and that print tends to survive on a fridge door far longer than a phone gallery does.
Our photo booth starts from 400 € for three hours. That is the full package, not a base rate that grows once you add the things everybody needs — unlimited photos, prints on the night, props, backdrop and an attendant are all inside it.
One thing worth knowing if you are comparing quotes: the price is the same across the whole province of Málaga. We do not add a travel surcharge for the capital, for Marbella, for Fuengirola or for a village up in the hills. A booking in the centre of Málaga costs what a booking forty minutes away costs. If you want the detail on how pricing works for longer events and different formats, we break it down in our guide to photo booth hire costs on the Costa del Sol.
The one common addition is the live background at 150 € — a flower wall or styled backdrop that becomes part of the room’s decoration rather than a plain sheet behind the camera. In a city venue where the booth sits in a corner of the dining room and everyone can see it all night, that upgrade does a lot of visual work.
The attendant matters more than it sounds. Someone standing beside the booth inviting people in is the difference between a machine that forty guests use and a machine that eight guests use. They also keep the print tray stocked and sort out the one group that inevitably tries to fit nine people into the frame.
Plan for an area of about 3 × 3 metres. The backdrop itself is 2.5 × 2.5 metres and the equipment stands up to 1.8 metres tall, so the extra margin is for guests to stand back, pose and get in and out without knocking into a table.
In central Málaga that is usually the thing worth checking first. A 3 × 3 corner is easy in a hotel function room and perfectly possible on most restaurant terraces, but a narrow patio in the old town can be tight once the tables are laid. Send us a photo of the room and we will tell you straight away whether it works and where the booth should go. We need a standard power socket within reach and, for outdoor setups, cover in case of rain — the equipment is electronic and does not share a terrace with a downpour.
Setup takes about an hour, so we arrive before your guests do. Pack-down is quicker. Neither eats into your hire time.

Weddings. City weddings in Málaga often split across two locations — a ceremony in a church or at the town hall, then a reception at a hotel or restaurant. The booth goes to the reception and switches on as the meal winds down. If you are still deciding between a town venue and somewhere out of the city, our comparison of a finca or a hotel for a wedding covers the trade-offs, and we go deeper on the booth side in our wedding photo booth guide.
Company events. Málaga’s tech and services sector means a steady run of team dinners, product launches and office anniversaries. A booth gives colleagues a reason to talk to people from other departments, and branded prints walk out of the building as a small piece of marketing. December is the busiest month by a wide margin — see our notes on company Christmas parties in Málaga.
Birthdays and private parties. Milestone birthdays, engagement parties, a terrace full of friends on a Saturday in June. These are the events where props get used hardest. We wrote about the format in detail for birthdays and private parties.
Communions, christenings and family celebrations. Usually lunchtime rather than evening, usually a mix of ages, and the booth tends to produce the one photo of all four grandparents that nobody managed to take.
We arrive roughly 90 minutes before the start time, which gives us an hour of setup and some margin for the lift, the stairs or the one-way system around the centre. By the time the first guests walk in, the booth is lit, loaded and tested.
For a dinner event we normally stay dark during the meal and start when the plates are cleared. The attendant opens the prop box, the first group goes in, and from there it runs itself — in three hours a booth at a hundred-guest event will typically produce a few hundred photos. Many couples put out a guest book: one print goes to the guest, one gets glued in with a message written beside it, and you have a wedding album assembled by the people in it.
If you are weighing up formats, a classic booth is not the only option. Our piece on a 360 booth, a magic mirror or a photo booth explains which suits which kind of room — the short version is that a 360 booth needs more floor than most city venues have, which is why the classic booth is what we take into Málaga centre most often.
We cover the whole province of Málaga at the same price: the capital, Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Estepona, Mijas, Nerja, Antequera, Ronda and the inland villages. If your venue is in the province, the quote does not change because of where it is.

From 400 € for three hours, including unlimited photos, prints on the night, props, backdrop, an attendant and travel. A live floral background is 150 € extra. The price is the same anywhere in the province of Málaga.
No. Delivery, setup and collection are included, and there is no surcharge for the capital or for any other town in the province.
As early as you can for a Saturday in high summer or any date in December, since those book out first. Midweek dates and quieter months are often available at shorter notice.
There is no cap. Guests use the booth as often as they like, prints come out on the night, and you receive digital copies of everything afterwards.
Yes, with two conditions: a power socket within reach and some form of cover. Málaga evenings are kind for most of the year, but the equipment cannot be rained on, so a pergola, awning or indoor fallback is needed.
Yes. The print layout is designed for your event, so company logos, names and dates can all go on it. Send us what you would like on there when you book.
Send a photo of the space before you book. We can often work with a slightly tighter corner by changing how the backdrop is positioned, and if it genuinely will not fit we will say so rather than turn up and improvise.
More than five years on the Costa del Sol, a 5.0 rating on Google and the same price across the whole province.
